About Platwright — Why the Templates Are Built the Way They Are

A plat is the official drawing of a property — the exact boundaries, measured and put on record. Not an estimate. A measurement.

A wright is someone who builds with craft. A shipwright knows which timber holds at sea. A wheelwright knows where the load falls.

Platwright does for the numbers what the surveyor does for the lines.

Why the templates are built the way they are

The complaint that comes up again and again about spreadsheets in this category is that one broken formula quietly distorts everything downstream. You don't find out from an error message. You find out later, from the outcome.

So the calculation engine is where the work goes. Every engine is recalculated outside the spreadsheet and compared against the file, cell by cell. Then it gets tested the way it will actually be used: opened empty, filled with extreme dates, and fed numbers typed into the wrong field. If it comes apart, it goes back before it ships.

That's the whole claim, and it's deliberately narrow. Every formula, verified. It describes what gets done to the file — not what happens to your money afterward. No template can promise the second one, and this one doesn't try.

How it's sold

One-time purchase. You download a spreadsheet and it's yours: no subscription, no account, nothing that expires or gets discontinued. The file lives on your computer or in your Drive, and it keeps working whether or not this store does.

The tools are meant to be edited. The sheets are protected so a stray click cannot delete a formula. In Excel: Review > Unprotect Sheet, with the password printed inside the file, in Start Here. In Google Sheets you own your copy, so you can edit anything — Sheets will just ask you to confirm first.

What Platwright is not

It's a calculation tool. It isn't financial, tax, or legal advice, it isn't a substitute for an accountant or an attorney, and it will never tell you whether a deal is a good one. It shows you the numbers, clearly and completely, so you can decide that yourself — before you sign.
